Settling in to life in Guatemala

So we have been here in Guatemala for a little over a month, and we love it! The program here at Potters Field Ministries is great! It teaches and equips young people to go out to foreign lands and share the Gospel. There is a lot going on here at PFM, such as the ministry school, Calvary Chapel Bible College, PFM kids club, Calvary Chapel Antigua. With all of these things going on here there is much opportunity to serve.

PFM school not only equips you to serve but gives you the opportunity to serve. The students here serve in the public schools teaching English. The awesome thing about them teaching English is that they get to use the Word of God to do it and the kids love it. Some of the children even ask to hear a Bible story!!! While the students are in the public schools they have the chance to invite their students to “Kids Club”. “Kids Club” happens every Wednesday from 12:45 -3:30. As the kids arrive they are given some lunch. They play outside and then gather under the tent for music and a Bible story and usually a skit. While the kids are listening to the Bible story the moms gather together for their own study. This part of the ministry has really grown. Sometimes the dads come and they have a Bible study too!!!

Mike and I have had a chance to come along side the students and help with “Kids Club” The kids here are so fun, sweet and precious.IMG_7835IMG_7825

I (Renee) have been able to help in the kitchen. We have to great Guatemalan cooks, Sonya and Myra. I  love being with them in the kitchen.IMG_7821

Mike has done some maintenance  work around the center. He painted the front of the building and built a basket ball court! He also built me a dinner table and bench!! Please pray for the funds to be able to do much needed work around the center, such as, more painting, rebuild ceilings in some of the rooms and basic remodeling.IMG_7883IMG_7900IMG_7844

We have able to be a support to the staff and students and are excited to see what else the Lord has for us to do. Thank you all for your prayers and support!!

Prayer requests:

– Gods provision for us each month

– Pray for the students as they are home now and getting ready to serve for 6 months in either Africa, Cambodia or back here in Guatemala.

– Pray for the people  of Guatemala that their eyes would be open to a relationship with Jesus not just a religion.

– Pray for us as we miss our kids and grandkids in Maui.

– Pray for the funds to repair and build things that are needed at the center

Our journey to Antigua, Guatemala

As we left Maui we had to say good by to our oldest son and his wife (Zach and Bree) and our oldest daughter and her husband and our to precious grand kids. (Torrey, Joe, Zeek and Sailor)

We  love our family and we were sad to leave them but excited to be used by God in Guatemala. Not only did we leave our family we also left our church family at CC Central Maui. We were blessed to be prayed  for and sent out by  Pastor Sean and our church family.

We boarded a plane in Maui to CA. We arrived in CA late on the 17th of February. While in CA we got to visit with family and friends! We visited with Mikes parents and many of our friends from our church (CCSJC). We were honored to have Pastor John pray for us on that Wednesday night and twice on Sunday. On February 23 rd we boarded yet anther plane. This time our destination was Texas to see my (Renee) Mom and other family members. We had a wonderful time in Texas with everyone even though it was sort and extremely cold!

We are so greatful to all of our our friends and family who are supporting us through prayer and giving. Most of all we are greatful to God for the opportunity to serve Him through serving His people in Antigua, Guatemala!

Please pray that:

– we can learn Spanish quickly

– Gods provision for us

– the ability to share the gospel with the people of Guatemala effectively

Getting Ready

We are getting ready to go to Guatemala real soon. We are working on getting our support letters out. We have booked our flights. Now we need to pack up our house and pack our bags. The Lord has been so good to us as He is preparing us to go. The Lord has allowed us to be able to spend these last 21 months as a family in Maui (minus Quincey the 10 months she was going serving in Guatemala). We are looking forward to how The Lord will use us in Guatemala! We would love for you all to pray for us!cropped-400px-volcanoarchantigua.jpg
